ABOUT US

My name is Lulu, I’m a cook and the host of 35C Supper Club. I grew up in Shandong, northern China, where winters were long, and kitchens were always filled with warmth.

A few years ago, I crossed continents to study in Newcastle, and this city captured my heart. I found my loved one here, and the people here are open, kind, and welcoming, making me feel like I belong.

As a food lover, I couldn’t leave home behind. I packed my kitchen with me. It’s been a journey, from cooking for myself when I was homesick, to feeding family and friends, to now sharing my homemade food with anyone who wants to pull up a chair. Then I discovered that the food I grew up with could be a bridge, a way to share my culture and connect with people from all walks of life.

The table tells my story: dishes from my Northern Chinese childhood alongside flavours I discovered living and working in Anhui and Shanghai, somethings you might never have tasted before.

A good meal isn’t just about the food, it’s about the people, the conversations, and the small moments that make a meal memorable. Around this table, you might meet people from different backgrounds. Here, the stories of people and food intersect, ferment, and grow…
